Premium Rate SMS
Creating revenue via interaction.
How does it work?
Dependent on a client's requirement Keyline are able to offer two
different types of options for running Premium SMS services:
A fully managed facility, where the Premium SMS content is
hosted and serviced through Keylines Communications platform.
A HTTP based API / interface enabling clients to send their
desired Premium SMS content direct through Keylines gateway.
Keyline currently operates a Mobile Terminated (MT or Reverse Billing)
platform; this means that it is the return SMS message that is sent
back to the handset, which charges the end-user for their content.
Keyline currently offer the following price point options across all networks, 25p, 50p, £1.00 and £1.50 to the end-user (or multiples thereof).
Commercial Options
To operate Premium SMS service clients require a four or five digit
short-code.
Once clients have decided how they are going to interface with Keyline, either directly or via a managed application they then need to decide on whether they require a dedicated or shared short-code. Dedicated short-code's are for just one particular client and their SMS traffic, whilst a shared code is utilised by many clients who use keywords to differentiate who the Premium SMS traffic belongs to. Shared short-codes are the most cost effective, however clients can run the risk of losing their Premium SMS traffic if end-users miss-spell the keyword required to activate the service.
Online Management Suite
Keyline provide all clients with a web-based management suite, this
provides two sources of data, 'Message Log' and 'Reverse Bill Delivery
Reports'.
The Message Log interface is the main communications interface used by clients to manage their database and subscribers. Once clients have logged into the platform they have the ability to search end-user activity via the following parameters:
Date
range
Service
keyword
Service
inbound text number (i.e. short-code)
The data is presented to the client via their web-browser in a HTML
table format.
Clients wishing to extract the selected data in a CSV (Comma Separated
Values) file then simply press the button marked 'Click here to
download as CSV' and follow the simple on screen instructions.
Reverse Billing Delivery Reports
Keyline runs a comprehensive real-time handset reporting platform
across all UK networks. This reporting information can be
presented online or direct to a client's application via a
standard technical interface.
Live reporting provides clients with an immediate snap shot of successfully delivered and billed transactions, this ability for clients to access real-time information as opposed to out of date information is the perfect solution for those clients who feel that they lose a large percentage of their monthly traffic due to delivery issues.
What could it be used for?
Premium SMS can be used for a wide variety of opportunities to
charge end users for accessing and receiving mobile content and
services, it is commonly used for:
Television voting
Competitions
Purchase of ringtones and logos
Football / sports alerts
News and information alerts
Tipster services
Keyline runs a variety of off-the-shelf applications so it is not
necessary for clients to have their own, examples of current
applications include:
Mobile competitions (Text 2 win)
Quiz application
Voting mechanics
Instant win / prize allocation
Subscription services
Chat applications
These applications enable Keyline to offer clients a rapid service
implementation process for event and topical driven requirements.
The majority of these applications use auto-response logic within

using the service.
